The Vorderreihe and promenade in the centre of Travemünde

Vorderreihe by the harbour · owner-run · no malls

Shopping in Travemünde

Shopping in Travemünde means above all the Vorderreihe – the promenade street right by the harbour, lined with small, owner-run shops: maritime fashion, handmade jewellery, an independent bookshop and delicatessen. The big malls and outlets are in Lübeck and around; this page deliberately lists only the fine addresses in town – curated, with source and verification date.

Markets and regional produce

Weekly market at the Fährplatz

Year-round on Mondays and Thursdays from 7:30 am to 1 pm – fresh regional produce right by the ferry landing. The most reliable “shopping” with a sea view.

Lübeck marzipan

The regional speciality par excellence: the original comes from neighbouring Lübeck (Niederegger); in Travemünde delicatessens and souvenir shops carry it. We deliberately do not name an unverified Travemünde “marzipan address”.

Fish from the cutter

At the fishing harbour on the Baggersand the fishermen sell the fresh catch – if at all, in the morning and without fixed hours. More on the harbour page.

Frequently asked questions about shopping in Travemünde

Where can you shop in Travemünde?

The main shopping street is the Vorderreihe right by the harbour, with the Kurgartenstraße behind it. There you find small, owner-run shops for maritime fashion, jewellery, books and gifts. There is no large mall in town – those are in Lübeck.

Are there owner-run shops in Travemünde?

Yes, several – including the bookshop BuchANKER (Vorderreihe 1), the fashion house DRESS UP/Matzen (Vorderreihe 58 and 63), the maritime shop Seaside No. 64 (Vorderreihe 55) and MareSchmuck with handmade jewellery (Kurgartenstraße 17).

Is there a shopping mall or outlet in Travemünde?

Not in town. The large malls (LUV Shopping, CITTI-PARK) are in Lübeck, the Designer Outlet is in Neumünster. Travemünde itself stands out for small, owner-run shops on the Vorderreihe.

Are shops in Travemünde open on Sundays?

As a seaside resort, many shops also open on Sundays in season. Exact hours differ by shop – when in doubt, check the respective shop’s page in advance.

Where can I get Lübeck marzipan in Travemünde?

The original (Niederegger) comes from Lübeck; in Travemünde delicatessens and souvenir shops carry it, e.g. on the Vorderreihe and in the BeachBay market hall on the Priwall. We only list a dedicated marzipan maker in town if it is verified.
