Where can the dog go on the beach?

Dog beach Priwall (eastern end)

At the eastern end of the Priwall peninsula there is a designated dog-beach section – open to dogs all year, with plenty of space and quieter than the Kurstrand. Reach it via the Priwall ferry and then east along the beach; the naturist section is nearby (follow the signs).

Dog beach Brodten

North of the Kurstrand, below the Brodten cliffs towards Niendorf, there is another dog-beach section. A natural shore with stones rather than lawns – great for romping and long beach walks with a view of the cliffs.

Not allowed: main beach in season

The Kurstrand in front of the promenade is closed to dogs from 1 April to 31 October. In season, head to the Priwall east end or Brodten instead. Outside the season (1 November to 31 March) dogs are allowed on the main beach too.

Can the dog go on the beach in Travemünde?

Yes, at the designated dog-beach sections at the eastern Priwall and at the Brodten shore, all year round. On the main beach (Kurstrand) dogs are banned from 1 April to 31 October; from November to March they are allowed there too.

Where is the dog beach in Travemünde?

There are two designated dog-beach sections: at the eastern end of the Priwall peninsula (reached via the Priwall ferry) and at the Brodten shore north of the Kurstrand. Both are open to dogs all year.

Do dogs have to be on a leash at the dog beach?

On the designated dog beach off-leash is usually allowed. On the promenade, the Vorderreihe and the access paths a leash is required. The signs on site are always decisive.

Can dogs use the main beach in summer?

No. The Kurstrand in front of the promenade bans dogs from 1 April to 31 October. During that time the Priwall east beach and the Brodten shore are the alternatives; from 1 November the main beach is open to dogs again.

Can I take a dog on the Priwall ferry or the train?

Leashed dogs are allowed on the Priwall ferry and on regional trains; larger dogs may need a ticket on the train. This makes the Priwall dog beach reachable without a car.
