Car parks fill up early on festival weekends. Near the beach: Am Leuchtturm, Leuchtenfeld, Godewind, Backbord, Kowitzberg; closer to the festival area, the Hafenbahnhof car park. There are no live occupancy figures – late arrivals park further out and walk.
The Priwall ferry shuttles between the Vorderreihe and the Priwall – for passengers and cars. From the Priwall side the regatta scene lies right in front of you, with the Passat at your back.
Entry to the festival area is free and the shore programme is family-friendly – and the beach is never far when attention fades. The ongoing sand sculpture exhibition along the promenade is on the same route.
The big closing fireworks end the festival week on Sunday 26 July 2026 from 10.45 pm. On the evenings before – Monday to Saturday, also around 10.45 pm – the Passat laser shows light up the harbour. You get a clear view of the fountains over the Trave estuary from the promenade and the Nordermole – quieter, and with the Passat in frame, from the Priwall side. To avoid the crush, claim your spot early and plan the trip back: after the fireworks the roads and last trains are packed.
No, the festival area and watching are free. Individual concerts and events are ticketed – details on the organiser site.

The promenade and the Nordermole are closest to the action as the fleets set out and return. The Priwall side offers a quieter view across the Trave estuary, and the Brodten cliffs give an elevated overview of the bay.
