Skandinavienkai

Travemünde’s ferry port: the big ferries to Sweden and Finland leave from Skandinavienkai – trucks, cars and passengers, in any weather.

Skandinavienkai sits upriver from the town centre – arriving by ferry you come ashore at Travemünde’s southern edge, not through the middle of it. Its own railway stop (“Lübeck-Skandinavienkai”) and the B75 connect the terminal; live train departures are on the getting-here page.

The terminal itself is off limits to spectators – but the show belongs to everyone: arriving and departing ferries pass the estuary close to the north pier and the Priwall beach. The live ship map shows who is under way.

Local tip: The best “harbour tour” is free: stand on the north pier as a big ferry leaves – it swings into the fairway right in front of you.
